The Future Proof partners strongly commend Environment Waikato on the Proposed RPS which implements key aspects of the Future Proof Strategy, its key principles, and priority actions with regard to the implementation of the sub-regional settlement pattern and the establishment of urban limits. At the time of hearing submissions on the Proposed Waikato Regional Policy Statement, there was approximately 879ha of zoned industrial land that was vacant within the central Future Proof area. The strategic nodes identified in Table 6-2 include a mixture of existing zoned land and land identified as future industrial land, subject to district planning processes. The Future Proof Strategy is a 50-year vision and implementation plan developed by strategy partners: Waikato Regional Council, Hamilton City Council, Waipa District Council, Waikato District Council, Tainui Waka Alliance and tāngata whenua, with assistance from the NZ Transport Agency.
